Philanthropy is important to IHIE. Every year, since 2013, our employees participate in the United Way of Central Indiana Pledge Drive during the first two weeks of November. In 2016, we raised around $7,000 with around 50% employee participation. This year, we surpassed our increased goal of $10,000 and 65% participation! The Pledge Drive kicked off with a visit from a United Way representative, accompanied by someone who was personally impacted by United Way. Their stories were uplifting and encouraging and gave employees great inspiration to meet our 2017 goal.

To encourage participation, IHIE employees who pledge donations are entered into a prize raffle which will be held before Thanksgiving. Additionally, since the United Way’s 100th year anniversary aligns with the Systems Integration team’s 100th sprint, IHIE’s goal is to bring in 100 perishable food items before Thanksgiving, which will then be given to the Julian Center, a United Way of Central Indiana  agency that supports victims of domestic violence. On top of donations, IHIE employees volunteered at the Little Red Door Cancer Agency, labeling and organizing promotional journals for an upcoming event. With lots of teamwork and lots of laughs, the team knocked out 1,400 journals in an hour!

The Philanthropic Committee meets monthly to brainstorm volunteer and giving opportunities with a variety of local organizations and agencies. There are quarterly philanthropic events for all employees to participate in, including Random Acts of Flowers and Second Helpings. For Random Acts of Flowers, volunteers collect flower vases, fill them with flowers, and deliver them to healthcare facilities throughout the community.

Volunteers at Second Helpings, a community kitchen and food pantry, do everything from donating and delivering food items, to cooking meals in the Hunger Relief kitchen.

We are proud of our employees and really enjoy being able to make a positive impact in our surrounding communities. Let’s all make a pledge to give back in this season of giving!
