The Quality Health FirstSM program

The Quality Health First program, a clinical data, health and disease management service, aggregates lab results, reports, medication histories and treatment histories in a standardized, electronic format, across all providers regardless of location.

The program combines this clinical information (from the aggregated repository service run by the Regenstrief Institute) and point-of-care data with claims from multiple insurance carriers to generate a patient list so that physicians know what patients are under their care. It also provides a summary of care, along with alerts and reminders to help physicians proactively monitor patients' health and wellness, especially those patients with chronic diseases using nationally-recognized metrics.

This information is presented in an easy-to-read format that enables the physician to view which patients are getting tests completed, the results, and which patients have yet to come in for testing, for example. This program is possible even for physicians who don't have an electronic medical record, making it practical for small, independent physicians and large physician groups alike.

Specifically, the system will be able to provide alerts, reminders and follow-up treatment information to help manage chronic diseases like diabetes, high cholesterol and certain types of cancer. Visit the Quality Health First program website .

Participants

Currently, the program is targeted for primary care physicians in the Indianapolis area. Physicians from six major medical groups and independent physicians are participating, as are Anthem, other private health insurers and Medicare/Medicaid.
