Eric Thieme

Mr. Thieme is responsible for IHIE’s legal affairs and compliance efforts, including: HIPAA and HITECH compliance; health information use, privacy and security; general business and corporate transactions; and tax-exempt organization matters. He also leads IHIE’s efforts to evaluate joint ventures, partnerships and strategic alliances with data source partners. IHIE connects the state’s hospitals, physicians, long-term care facilities and other healthcare providers, enabling medical information to follow patients regardless of treatment location to improve care coordination and patient outcomes. Physicians in the IHIE network provide care to over ten million patients.

Prior to joining IHIE, Mr. Thieme was an attorney with the law firm of Baker & Daniels LLP, where he focused on the legal aspects of health information exchange, as well as complex healthcare transactional and regulatory matters.

Mr. Thieme received a bachelor of science in economics from Miami University and graduated summa cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.
